Hearing Things
B. Sheffield - Copyright 2006 - (from the album) In Other Words...
Last night, as I lay in the darkness
I thought I heard the voice of my old friend.
But I knew that I must have been mistaken.
I guess I'm only hearing things again.
There's a sound like a tapping on my window.
It's gone when I pull back the blinds.
There's a glass and a bottle on the table,
It's the only consolation I can find.
I can't explain all these sounds that I hear
But they seem to just go on and on.
And the whisper of her breathing against my ear,
Has been a memory for too long.
Last night, I awoke from my slumber,
It sounded like a key turned in my door.
And my heart nearly jumped right from my body.
I guess it's just the wind and nothing more.
I can't explain all these sounds that I hear
But they seem to just go on and on.
And the whisper of her breathing against my ear,
Has been a memory for too long.
The clock there (ticking) on the mantle
Only serves to recall how long it's been,
And as I lie here waiting in the darkness,
I guess I'm only hearing things again.
Hearing things...
Hearing things...
Hearing things.
